The best playing cards for poker

Which pack of playing cards are the best for poker?

There’s nothing better than the velvety feel of a luxury deck of playing cards. They glide across the felt and bend with a firmness that oozes quality. And equally, there’s nothing worse than a bad deck of cards, with frayed edges and bent corners.

We’ve reviewed the very best, looking at giant playing cards, plastic decks, and even black cards.

Here is our list of the highest quality decks, along with their prices and details about them, so that you can choose the perfect pack of playing cards for your next poker home game.

Copag* is the Cadillac of playing cards.

You can feel the quality with every touch, and it makes dealing a breeze.

These silky smooth plastic playing cards have been the official provider of the World Series of Poker since 2016, and it's easy to see why.

Copag* playing cards are 100 per cent PVC plastic, making them perfect to glide across the felt of a poker table.

They're one of the most expensive cards you can buy, but we reckon card-for-card, they're worth the extra expense.

KEM* playing cards are of a similar quality to Copag and was formerly the provider for the World Series of Poker between 2006 and 2016.

They’re a very popular choice of plastic playing card used around the world, and if you’ve ever played in a casino, there’s a good chance it was KEM.

They’re a slightly cheaper choice and don’t have quite the prestige of Copag, but if you’re looking for a solid deck of cards that will serve you well for many years, KEM* is a great choice.

If you’re looking for a deck of cards that are indestructible, they don’t exist. But Modiano* is almost definitely as close as you are going to get.

They are 100 per cen plastic, made with high-quality platinum acetate, making them up last up to 100 times longer than brands that us PVC.

That'll give you a lot of hands!

They offer a variety of colours and speciality decks, and while the cards feel slightly different to Copag and KEM, Modiano* is a very high quality playing card.

Another cheaper option is Maverick*.

If you’re looking to buy a few pairs or don’t want to spend the money, Maverick are another good option.

Maverick have been around a long time and they know how to made a good deck of cards.

This jumbo deck of cards has an added benefit for those with poorer eyesight - perfect for the older gentlemen and women at the game.

These cards are for players who are looking to pick up a couple of decks and aren’t interested in them lasting years and years.

This one definitely isn’t for the purists and you wouldn’t call them vintage playing cards!

Black playing cards can be a great talking point at the table and even if they only get a laugh as novelty playing cards, they’re a fun addition to your poker set.

We recommend Acelion’s black playing cards* because they’re a good price, good quality, and we really like the distinct dragon design on these custom playing cards.
